changed Mobile networks but kept old number but cant use calls?

I got a new sim card from a meteor store today.I got my old number back but when I went home and changed the sim cards the mobile has no network and emergency calls only written on the screen.I tried to register my details on the Meteor wedsite but it says that the number is invalid.
Will I have to go back to the store?

It takes 2 days for the network to change your number to your new phone/sim.
